In view of the expected growth of the regional population (590 Mln by 2030) and the need to create further job opportunity, an efficient and resilient transportation infrastructure that support connectivity between countries and inter-modal integration will be more and more crucial.  Here below the advantage of the regional infrastructure development:

  1. The Infrastructure Development can have a drastic impact on all Middle East economies, leading to GDP growth and jobs creation.
  2. A modern and efficient infrastructure network will strongly enhance the economic and social development of the Middle East countries.
  3. The development of MENA rail corridors can also enhance the resilience of transport connectivity between Asia and Europe, by providing land-based alternatives to cross the Read Sea and Suez Canal.
  4. The benefits due to the new rail network will be enhanced in case the MENA countries will jointly work together in order to develop a common and efficient governance for rail network, as well as uniform regulatory framework in order to facilitate passengers and freight free-flows among the countries and minimize the impact and bureaucracy of custom procedures at the borders.
